Holy Resilience: The Bible’s Traumatic Origins
Author: David M. Carr
In this work, David M. Carr reads the Bible through the lens of contemporary trauma theory. He shows how so much of the Biblical literature arises from communities reeling from traumatic events, trying to make sense of it all, and putting their lives back together. Only when we understand this aspect of the origins of the Bible, can we understand the message it presents to us. Carr’s book is easy to read, but mind-blowing in its implications.
This retreat will be lead by Pastor Colin Cushman, the director of Camp Indianola and a passionate and engaging teacher.
The format of this retreat has been adapted for COVID safety. Individuals or families will sleep spaced out from others, potentially even in their own bunkroom (depending on configuration of attendees). Participants will be masked. Many pieces of the retreat will be held outdoors, and ventilation will be increased indoors. Full COVID vaccination is required for participants.
